Monika joined the TMC in February 2012 as Development Coordinator. Her responsibilities include coordination and support of the Museum’s fundraising and development activities such as the implementation of giving programs and special events.
Over the past fifteen years, Monika worked and volunteered with a number of arts and educational organizations in Manitoba and Nova Scotia. In Halifax, she coordinated the initial years of the Hackmatack Children’s Choice Book Awards, a young readers’ program for Atlantic Canada, organizing the logistics of the program, annual author tours in participating regions, and raising funds for a long-term continuation of the project. Later she joined the Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia as Executive Assistant, taking on program and membership coordination duties, events fundraising and other responsibilities.
Prior to joining the Textile Museum, she worked as researcher and project coordinator with the Rural Development Institute at Brandon University where she conducted research on rural development issues and administered collaborative projects between the university and community organizations in the region. Monika holds a B.A. in English and German and a B.F.A. in painting and ceramics from Brandon University.
