Shauna McCabe is the Executive Director of the Textile Museum of Canada. She joined the Museum in July 2010 bringing with her an extensive national and international background.
Shauna has held the position of Canada Research Chair in Critical Theory in the Interpretation of Culture at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick since 2007 where she also founded CHARTS, the Centre for Humanities and Arts Research in Transdisciplinary Space. In this position, she created and directed interdisciplinary and collaborative programs to produce opportunities to transform our understanding about culture and creativity.
Before joining Mount Allison University, Shauna was the Director of The Rooms Provincial Art Gallery in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. There, she initiated a number of ambitious projects connecting historical collections and contemporary practices such as Intangible Evidence: Creative Cultural Research and the media arts commission Rebecca Belmore: March 5, 1819 co-produced with Grunt Gallery, Vancouver. From 1998 to 2005, she was Senior Curator of the Confederation Centre Art Gallery in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
Shauna has produced over 50 exhibitions by Canadian and international artists including Krimiseries: Raqs Collective, Deimantas Narkevicius, Stih & Schnock, Mac Adams, and Susan Schuppli (Museum London, London, ON) and Dig Up My Heart: Artistic Practice in the Field (Confederation Centre Art Gallery, Charlottetown).
