This shawl shows a significant influence of the Renaissance style developed by Amédée Couder. The graceful curves, exquisite rosettes, delicate embellishment of the central field and total absence of Kashmir motifs are all reflections of the prevalent taste, which favoured graceful and well-rounded contours, elegance of detail and pure colours.
