American Special Forces soldiers are organized into Organizational Detachments (ODs). The Mako 05 group (a mako is a shark) of Operational Detachment A2075 was evidently in Afghanistan from September 2003 to June 2004. The detachment commander may have commissioned a dozen rugs like this as souvenirs for his troops (there are precedents for this) but in this case there are two problems. First, although the Special Forces detachments in Afghanistan are ordinarily listed by the U.S. Department of Defence and the authoritative website globalsecurity.org, there is no record of ODA2075. Second, the weapons depicted here are Russian.
