Group tours include an overview of all exhibitions. The tour experience takes the form of an informal discussion between our trained volunteer docent and your group.
Tours last approximately 1 hour. We suggest scheduling 1 ½ hours for your visit to allow for casual touring and browsing the Museum Shop.
The Textile Museum also offers tactile tours for visitors who are blind and partially sighted. Participants will have the opportunity to touch objects from the Museum’s teaching collection, which features over 400 objects from around the world.
Every Sunday at 2 pm, volunteer docents host a tour of current exhibitions. No pre-registration is required; free with admission.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Groups will be welcomed by our visitor services team upon arrival. As our entry vestibule and lobby are small, your group will be escorted via the stairs or elevator to the 2nd floor reception space where they will meet their tour leader and store coats and large bags in our secure coatroom. Exhibitions are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors.
A wheelchair is available for the convenience of our visitors and is provided at the user’s own risk. The Textile Museum of Canada accepts no responsibility or liability for loss, damage or compensation claims resulting from use or misuse of the wheelchair.
The Textile Museum is approximately 2 minutes from St. Patrick Subway Station. There are several public parking lots near the Textile Museum. Street parking is very limited. There are no lay-by areas directly in front of the entry, however it is possible to stop traffic briefly to unload a bus near the Museum entry. Keep in mind that Centre Avenue is a small, busy street and is frequently used for deliveries.
The Museum does not have a restaurant. Museum staff can offer directions to restaurants in the neighbourhood that are suitable for groups. The Textile Museum of Canada accepts no responsibility for the outcome of these suggestions.
