Helen Frances Gregor: Textiles in Architecture
Date: Apr 7 - Jul 1, 1990
Artist: Helen Frances Gregor
Curated by: Lynne Milgram
Helen Frances Gregor was an internationally recognized fibre artist and educator. Her work raises issues about the formal relationship of tapestry to architecture, its metaphorical relationship to music, and its function as a symbol. This 1990 exhibition focuses on Gregor’s architectural tapestry commissions, and addresses how she challenges the academic division between fine and applied arts. While the individual expression is specific, the infinite variety of universal experience it evokes is limitless.
