Support our Contemporary Art Programming
The Anne Angus Contemporary Program Fund
Anne Angus was a very dear friend of the Textile Museum of Canada. From the very early years of the Museum, Anne demonstrated her passion for textiles by tirelessly volunteering in all areas of activity and was instrumental in the major fundraising activities of the TMC Volunteer Committee. We are indebted to Anne for her role in shaping the Museum.
Anne had a particular love for contemporary textile art. In 2002, the Angus family established the Anne Angus Contemporary Program Fund in Anne's memory. This act of generosity and partnership won an award of merit from the Ontario Association of Art Galleries.
The Fund provides ongoing support for our growing contemporary program and we are actively seeking contributions from donors with an interest in the work of Canadian and international fibre artists.
Support the Creation of New Exhibitions
Make a Gift Towards Curatorial Research and Exhibition Development
As a core function of the Museum, exhibition development requires significant financial support. The Museum's galleries present a minimum of three exhibitions at a time, enabling curatorial staff to offer exhibitions that are richly conceived with overlapping themes - and public programming likewise provides links and draws out common areas for discussion. Annual exhibition programs are established with local, regional, national and international priorities in mind, with an even balance of contemporary and historic/ethnographic content. When the TMC develops exhibitions of traditional and historic textiles, opportunities are sought to introduce contemporary relevance into the interpretive material and programs at an early stage - a process that engages artists, community members and colleagues for input, expertise, partnerships and collaboration.
