Cobweb: Transmogrification of a Baroque Veil Stick inks on calf vellum, silk tulle, kozo paper, banana paper, thread, old Japanese practice pages. Drawn calligraphic texts are from Renaissance Clothing and the Materials of Memory by Ann Rosalind and Peter Stallybrass Ruth-Carroll, when she was little, used to go to bed before dark in the summer. The green blind on her window used to project distorted grids on the opposite wall of the room and she thinks these changing images are what fascinated her about cloth and still do. No other surface manipulates light the way a piece of cloth will. Then imagine a forest clearing filled with dew-covered spider webs and how light refracts within the moisture as a slight breeze changes everything.
