Untitled Hand painted, smocked silk Barb Hilts majored in Textile Design at the Ontario College of Art graduating in 1986. She continued her studies at the University of Guelph in textile sciences. After twenty years of painting on silk, manipulating colours to create a rich aesthetic surface; it was a natural transition to alter the cloth’s surface through smocking techniques.
