How Sweet It Is: Artisanal Agriculture

Date: September 12, 2015
Time: 10 am

Fairmont Royal York Hotel
100 Front Street West, Toronto

Urban bee-keeping is a well established yet little-known activity in the city. Perhaps the largest collection of hives is the “bee hotel” at Toronto’s Fairmont Royal York among the rooftop gardens, where the hives produce an astounding 360 kilograms of honey in a year. Participants will visit the hives in the city’s centre, learning about honey as a sustainable food source, urban green space, and how healthy bee populations are a barometer of environmental pollution.

* Meet in the hotel lobby, Front Street entrance
This event is inaccessible, participants will have to walk up three flights of stairs to reach the rooftop gardens. We apologize for the inconvenience.
