My oldest textile is a cotton bed cover knitted in strips by my great-great-grandmother. She grew the cotton, cleaned, carded, and spun the thread, and knitted a checker board pattern on tiny needles. It is natural in color, and. unfortunately full of holes, but there is enough left to see the construction and pattern.
