Shepherd's coat

Like sheepskin or fur, this heavy garment serves as an excellent shield from the weather. Long wool strands on the inside provide warmth and comfort to a shepherd who may spend cold nights in the mountains tending to sheep. The fabric is so thick and dense, a wolf or stray dog cannot bite through it.

The life of a Spanish shepherd is similar to life of an Italian shepherd and shepherds from the Balkans (South Europe), because they work in a similar environment and climate around Mediterranean Sea; with similar flora and fauna; and also similar culture, history, architecture, food, patrilineal / patrimonial system, thinking and psychology. This part of the world -- south of the Alps -- is sometimes known as the “Culture of the grape, Culture of the wine” and has ancient traditions.
