Shepherd's coat

Like sheepskin or fur, this heavy garment serves as an excellent shield from the weather. Long wool strands on the inside provide warmth and comfort to a shepherd who may spend cold nights in the mountains tending to sheep. The fabric is so thick and dense, a wolf or stray dog cannot bite through it.

What was the life of a shepherd like in the 20th century?

Soltary. Rewarding. Harsh. Enlighetning. Something done alone will always cause you to think more about the task you bear. I believe spending long periods of time tending to a flock, with limited contact to others, and with the threat of an animal attack, that one could not help but reflect on the path they have chosen.
