Cloud collar

The name “cloud collar” comes from the shape of this collar’s lobes, or petals, which are often layered. Women wore these collars over robes for special occasions. The cloud shapes represent abundance. At one time, the neck opening symbolized the Sky Gate (the entrance to heaven), and the lobes, pointing in four directions, represented the universe in miniature.

Of your accessories, which do you wear strictly for decoration and which have a function?

My accessories range in their functionality, rings being at the bottom of the list. Not only are my rings purely for decorative purposes but also they are the most un-functional of all my accessories. Though I love to wear them it seems I am also prone to losing them. Somewhere in the middle are earrings. After years of not doing so, I have recently started wearing earrings on a daily basis. They serve a sort of superficial function. After so long not wearing earrings I found I could not fit some earrings into my ears and heavy earrings were irritating. Wearing them day-to-day gets me used to the earrings, so when I actually want to wear earrings for purely decorative purposes I can. Finally, though it is also a decorative piece, the one accessory that actually serves a definite function is my watch. I suppose it is not necessary with cell phones now, but I just find a watch so much easier for checking the time.
