I immediately think to my favourite accessory, a gold menswear-inspired watch. I wear it constantly, but must admit that I have never looked down at it for the time, or even set the time properly. If someone were to approach me and ask the time, I would rustle through my purse to find my cell phone! Most accessories, such as handbags or hair clips, have a primarily functional purpose but their decorative purpose is just as important (if not more) to the wearer. For example, you may not need a belt to hold your pants up, but you wear one because you simply like the aesthetic. The main function of a watch should be to tell the time, however, it makes for a great fashion accessory as well. This question brings up the point that accessories these days are all together functional and decorative, and that even common objects can be accessories. We see it everyday with our coffee cups, cell phones, and even our pets. This leads me to conclude that all of my accessories are mainly for decoration, and functionality has become an added bonus.
