Jacket

Short, fitted jackets were fashionable for men and women in 19th century Greece. The loose sleeves allow the wearer to move freely while dancing. Such jackets are characterized by gold embroidery on a dark velvet ground. Embroidering with metal thread is a long tradition in Greece that was profoundly influenced by centuries of Ottoman rule.

What in your wardrobe would you pair with this jacket?

I would pair this fabulous jacket with a pair of fitted dark-wash blue jeans and flats. Under it would be a billowy white top made of either silk or cotton to create a fun contradiction to the heavier jacket.
