Fashion is always changing and certain looks are constantly changing and going in and out of style. However, men's fashion has dramatically evolved more than woman's fashion. When the thought of heels, bows, jewelry and lace come together the idea of a woman comes to mind, but in the 16th and 17th centuries those fashionable traits were also found on men's apparel. Even men's shoes were often decorated in bows and ribbons while also having a small heel. Lace was and still is a popular choice amoung the royals of the world. In the photos attatched (www.guardian.co.uk/fashion/gallery), a painting by Anthony Van Dyck of Charles I and Henrietta Maria, the couple are both dressed in elaborate lace collars. As time went on lace became a more dominant amoung woman's attire. Queen Victoria was photographed in 1897 fully dresses in lace, which no doubtably inspired future royals such as Duchess Kate in her Sarah Burton for McQueen wedding gown.
