Souvenir pillow

This souvenir pillow from the small town of Cabri, Saskatchewan reads “Souvenir of Saskatchewan, Canada, 50 Years of Progress 1905-1955.” The 50 years commemorate Saskatchewan's designation as a province independent of the Northwest Territories. As the growing middle class pursued travel in the late 19th century, souvenir pillows became popular trip mementos.

The most memorable souvenir that I own is a piece of cloth woven in Guatemala City. It is memorable to me beacause despite the woman who made it being so poor she has manage to keep the cloth weaving tradition alive. It is a beautiful piece of work that is so warm and vibrant to look at. I will treasure the cloth for years to come.
