Group Tours: What to Expect

After being welcomed to the Museum by our visitor service team, you will quickly proceed to the galleries located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of our facility, situated in the base of a 26 storey complex.

  • Groups arriving prior to our public opening hours, will be met in the entry lobby by a TMC representative or may need to call from our lobby via a courtesy phone should they arrive early.
  • The entry vestibule and lobby are small. To ensure your group feels welcomed, they will be quickly escorted up two flights of stairs (or via elevator) to the 2nd floor reception space where they will meet their tour leader, store coats, parcels and pick up stools for use during their visit. The Museum has one wheel chair available for visitors. It is stored on the 2nd floor in the adjacent cloakroom.
  • Group tours include an overview of all permanent and temporary exhibitions. The tour experience takes the form of an informal discussion between our trained volunteer Docent and your group.
  • The Museum's building is intimate in scale and exhibition galleries are presented on two floors. Tour group size is limited to 20 persons. For larger groups, additional Docents will be on hand and the group divided accordingly.
  • Tours last approximately 60 minutes. Allocating 1 1/2 hours for a visit should suffice, in order to allow time for casual touring and a visit to the Museum Shop.
  • The Museum does not have a restaurant; however arrangements can be made for a hosted meal on premise. Museum staff can also offer direction to some of the restaurants in the neighbourhood that are receptive to larger groups.
  • The building is surrounded by public parking lots. Street parking is very limited and there are no lay by areas directly in front of the entry. Centre Avenue is a small street and frequently used for deliveries, it is possible to stop traffic briefly in order to unload a bus near the Museum entry.
