The Remarkable Tale of the Ardabil Carpet by Jon Thompson

Join us for a fascinating lecture on The Ardabil Carpet, one of the largest and the oldest dated carpet in the world. In this lecture Dr. Thompson unravels an enigmatic story of the rug that throws light on its history and adds new evidence as to how the carpet was made.

The Textile Museum of Canada is pleased to host Dr. Jon Thompson as part of an international lecture tour coordinated by the American Conference of Oriental Rugs in conjunction with the TMC’s Friends of Oriental Rugs (FOR) affiliation group.

Speaker/Instructor/Guest Information:

Dr. Jon Thompson is the former May Beattie Fellow in Carpet Studies, Ashmolean Museum, University of Oxford, an expert in Oriental rugs and author of many books and exhibition catalogs; he teachers rug courses in Oxford and Victoria and Albert Museum.
